Why it exists
Sponsoring a family member for a green card starts with a question that sounds simple and is not: do I earn enough?
The official answer lives in USCIS Form I-864P — three regional tables, two percentage columns, and a set of household-counting rules that catch out careful people. Most sponsors get it wrong in one of two directions. They overcount their household and conclude they have failed when they have not, or they undercount it and file an affidavit that comes back months later with a Request for Evidence.
This site turns those tables into something you can answer in under a minute, and then tells you what to do about the answer — including the arithmetic for assets and for a joint sponsor, worked for your actual numbers rather than left as a rule to apply yourself.
Where every figure comes from
Every dollar amount on this site is taken from USCIS Form I-864P, the HHS Poverty Guidelines for Affidavit of Support. Nothing is estimated, rounded, or carried over from a previous year. The figures currently in use are those effective March 1, 2026.
The tables live in a single data file that the calculator and every page of prose read from, so a figure quoted in a guide cannot drift away from the figure the calculator uses. When the guidelines are republished — normally around March 1 each year — one file changes and the whole site updates with it.
The rules themselves, as opposed to the numbers, are checked against the official USCIS form instructions rather than against other websites. The current form edition is 08/24/26, and the site was last verified against uscis.gov on September 12, 2026.
How it is kept honest
- Primary sources only. Claims are verified against uscis.gov and the official form instructions. Where something cannot be verified against a primary source, it is either stated with its uncertainty or removed.
- Corrections are published, not quietly patched. When something here has been wrong, it gets fixed and the fix is dated.
- No figures behind an email form. Nothing on this site is gated. There is no newsletter, no lead capture, and no phone number field anywhere.
- Advertising is labelled. Where a link to a commercial service appears, it is marked as an advertisement and it sits below our own guidance, never in place of it.
What this site deliberately does not do
It does not give legal advice, prepare forms, review cases, or tell you which form to file. Those are legal services, and offering them without a licence would be the unauthorized practice of law — as well as a disservice to anyone relying on it. For anything specific to your circumstances, speak to a licensed immigration attorney or a Department of Justice accredited representative.
It also does not ask for your personal information. The calculator runs entirely in your browser; the household size and income you enter are never sent anywhere, never stored, and never seen by us. See the privacy policy for what is and is not collected.
Who maintains it
The site is published and maintained by Vrisaram Enterprises (OPC) Private Limited, an independent web publisher registered in India. It is not a law firm, not a form-preparation service, and not affiliated with USCIS, the U.S. Department of State, or any government agency. Nobody here is an attorney, and the site does not hold itself out as one — its value is in reproducing the official figures accurately and showing its working, not in advising on your case.
