How to read the I-864P table

First count your household size — yourself, your spouse, dependent children, tax dependents, the immigrants you are sponsoring on this affidavit, and anyone from a prior I-864 whose obligation is still active (see our household size guide). Then find that number in the table for the region where you live. Your current annual income must meet or exceed the 125% figure. If it doesn't, you can bridge the gap with assets or a joint sponsor. What is Form I-864P?

Form I-864P is the USCIS publication of the HHS Poverty Guidelines used to determine the minimum income requirement for Form I-864, Affidavit of Support. It is updated every year, usually effective March 1. The tables on this page are the guidelines effective March 1, 2026.

Do I use the 100% or 125% column of the I-864P?

Most sponsors must meet 125% of the poverty guidelines. Only sponsors on active duty in the U.S. armed forces who are petitioning for their spouse or child may use the lower 100% column.

When will the I-864P be updated next?

HHS publishes new poverty guidelines each January, and USCIS typically applies them to Form I-864P from March 1. The next update is expected around March 1, 2027. This site is updated within days of each release.
